Full professor of Planning and Urban Policies and member of the PhD Program in Urban Planning, Design and Policy. He has been scientific director of the project on \u201cTerritorial fragilities\u201d in the framework of the excellence initiative of the Ministry of University and Research. He has been founder and first president of Urban@it – National Centre for Urban Policies Studies (2013-2018). He has been Deputy – Mayor for Urban Planning and Agriculture of the City of Milan in 2015-2016. Vice-Rector of Politecnico di Milano from 2010 to 2015, Head of the Department of Architecture and Planning (2001-2008), President of AESOP, the Association of the European Schools of Planning (2001-2004), Chair of the Italian Society of Urbanists (SIU), (2010-2014) and he has been among the founding members of the European Urban Research Association (EURA).<\/p>\n
He has been responsible of European and National research projects; and as a planner he has been responsible for many projects in Italy and abroad (Shanghai, Xi’an, Dubai).
\nHe has been teaching at the Faculty of Architecture of Pescara (1992-1995), has been visiting scholar at U.C. Berlekey, USA, and visiting professor at the University of Reims, France, Tongij University, China, Aalto University in Helsinki, Finland, MIT Cambridge, USA and at the Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio, Switzerland.<\/p>\n
He is author\/editor of 22 books and of many articles and essays in Italian and English.
