[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]MIT Senseable City Lab | Carlo Ratti Associati[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”10591″ img_size=”medium” el_class=”logorel mamedium”][vc_column_text]Carlo Ratti teaches at the Massachusetts lnstitute of Technology (MIT), where he also serves as director of the Senseable City Lab. He is also the founder of Carlo Ratti Associati, a design studio specialized in innovative projects. A graduate of the Turin Polytechnic and the \u00c9cole Nationale des Ponts et Chauss\u00e9es in Paris, he continued his studies at the University of Cambridge where he received a Masters in Philosophy and a PhD in Architecture.<\/p>\n
Ratti is an eloquent commentator on the impact of new technologies on our cities. He has authored more than five hundred publications including \u201cLa citt\u00e0 di domani\u201d (Einaudi, 2017, with Matthew Claudel) and he holds a number of technical patents. His essays as well as interviews have appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, Scientific American, the BBC, Project Syndicate, Corriere della Sera, La Repubblica, ll Sole 24 Ore, La Stampa, and Domus. His work has been displayed at the Biennale of Venice, Barcelona\u2019s Design Museum, London\u2019s Science Museum, MOMA in New York and MAXXI in Rome.<\/p>\n
Esquire included Ratti in its list “Best & Brightest”, Forbes mentioned him as one of the “Names You Need to Know” and Wired included him in its list “50 persons who will change the world”. Fast Company considers him among the “50 most influential designers in America” while Thames & Hudson declared him one of the “60 innovators shaping our creative future”. Time Magazine included three of his projects – the Digital Water Pavilion, the Copenhagen Wheel and Scribit \u2013 in its lists of the “Best inventions of the year” in 2007, 2014 and 2019.<\/p>\n
Ratti curated the BMW Guggenheim Pavilion in Berlin, served as educational director of the Strelka lnstitute for Media, Architecture and Design in Moscow, and was appointed lnaugural lnnovator in Residence by the government of Queensland. During Expo Milano 2015 he curated the Future Food District pavilion. A member of the ltalian Design Council, he serves as co-director of the World Economic Forum Global Future Council on Cities and Urbanization.
